Captain Lucan Valdora walked along the corridor of his grand vessel, its hull, panels and bulkheads still gleaming with the new paint that had been installed only a month earlier and repaired and repainted twice before they even got out here. Space was indeed a dark void filled with as many terrors as wonders. And with their course being what it is, Valdora felt the uncertainty of not knowing which that next first contact would be. He felt like a sailboat Captain, or better yet like he was James T Kirk himself. Space was once again the final frontier, the unknown. And Lucan liked it. A smile came across his face as his booted feet steps echoed around the cool blue lit corridor of silver, blues and black. He nodded to two crewman who came to attention at once but were quickly dismissed with a gesture. Finally he reached the turbolift and called for it. The elevator chimed and the doors slid back. Valdora stepped in as they once again closed. "Bridge."
He stepped out onto the bridge just as Alpha shift was coming on duty, the senior staff arriving at their positions. "Good morning" he said in a cheery mood and took the Command chair from Logan, taking a PADD and a warm cup of blood from his yeoman. "Anything to report?" He asked without looking up from the PADD.

Elizabeth releived the Gamma Shift Helm officer and sat down. She picked up a padd and quickly read through the report. She then ran her fingrs across the controls and checked the ships handleing her self before settleing back into her seat.

Valdora nodded as he got responses and turned toward the helm. "How was your watch in the big chair Ensign?" Valdora asked with a smile.

Dr Foley watched as Faith Nomonor fought violently agasint the restraints of the bio bed , luckily they were holding. It had started with the migraines and before long had turned into this horrible situation.
Since the incident with the trans-dimensional crew of the Potemkin , Foley and worked pretty much non stop to try and bring the Doctor back to her normal self. He had explored every research avenue he could from the mental illness Lycanthropy , delving into medieval folklore on werewolves , and looking constantly re reading Starfleets brief file on her species however nothing he tried seemed to work. The violent and blood thristy animal remained leaving no trace of the kind and caring Doctor he had worked with.
He rubbed his eyes and went back to his desk leaving the Doctor alone with the two security officers that had been posted to keep watch should anything happen.
Sitting down he pulled up the Dr Nomonors files again and for what seemed like the millionth time began to read them.

"Oh don't worry, in that chair your skills will be plenty tested piloting this baby. Once we get out of slipstream and into open space again that is" he nodded to her and walked up the steps to his chair, sitting in it and bringing the PADD with him that Logan had handed him. "What about all other departments? Anything?" He called out over the bridge.

Lieutenant Figueroa took up his station at Ops looking over sensor data and read outs of the last shift. "Minor power and sensor fluxuations reported. Communications systems nominal." He began to compensate for the odd readouts. "Seems we still having some minor issues while in Slipstream. Senors indicate nothing but clear space ahead sir."

In his quarters Shepard sleeps and dreams as his shift draws near... *Flash* "Thumper that position, NOW!" Yells Lt. Shepard as another searing bolt of plasma crashes into the barricade infront of him. From the outpost higher up in the mountains a mortar shell comes screaming down, and a massive shockwave hurls everything to the ground. The air blasts away and then sucks back in as the ground rumbles and shakes from the Thumper round.
Getting up and looking out Shepard sees a devestated hill with bodies strewn about and the remains of several pieces of armored support. He turns and falls back into the mountain passes and heads towards a choke point where a squad is waiting. This had been a long day, their shuttles had been destroyed intercepting the assaulting force and they had been repelling wave after wave of xenos, each larger and with more and more armored support. They were down to only a few Thumper rounds and hoped that backup would be here soon...
*Flash* "Major. Your shift begins in one hour. It is time to get up." Comes Enterprises soft voice into Shepard's dream world, his flashback to his first taste of war. Music plays softly in the background as he sits up and replies "Thank you Enterprise." Shaking off the dream he walks towards the shower to start his day. An hour later he strides from his room in full uniform and heads to the Bridge. Steping off the turbo lift he salutes the captain and says "Captain, heres my report on the evaluation of the Marines, ship and crew for possible threats within the Delta Quadrant. The report goes into great detail but overall i think we are as ready as we can be Sir." OOC: The song is this www.youtube.com/watch?v=v1S81JN7rLk&feature=related

Valdora take the PADD and places it over the other and begins reading. "The life of a starship Captain" he sighs and then looks up "very good Major."

Jade was herself now working over the Science Station having just come on duty. She looked up and over the bridge at her former officer Figueroa and smile slightly. Only a week or so ago he was working as part of her staff and she had been working hard to replace him. She soon found out that no one was quite as hard working, but that didn't stop her trying to make it so. "Science is ready Captain" she called out "as the Ensign said, no systems or significant objects ahead for another twenty light years. I recommend we drop the standard speeds there, if only to stave off the bordom...sir."

Foley tapped his com badge.
" Dr Foley to Captain Valdora, Im putting Dr Nomonor in a stasis field until we can find away to help her. Major Shepard will need to appoint a new combat medic until the time Dr Nomonor is fit to rejoin the marines. Other than that , Sickbay is fully operational and ready."

Valdora put down the PADDs from his eyes and pressed the com link to sickbay on his arm. "Understood. Keep me informed Doctor."
It was at that moment that Durn's communication station chirped to life with a hail from ahead.
