"I think that went well wouldn't you agree Ensign?" It was Enterprise addressing the Ensign as he came into the lab with his holosuit laid over his shoulder. "You kidding? The Captain probably thinks I am some holo-nut with emotional issues." They were referring to the surprise encounter with the Captain in Engineering. "I don't know he seemed to have considered it a possibility, she paused for emphasizes "only for a second or so. " The Ensign set down the holosuit on a newly generated bench that Enterprise was so kindly placed. "How would you know?" he said while he began to move about the room preparing for the repairs. "Call it a hunch, well that and his bio-readings did alter a bit." That did not reassure the Ensign.
"Enterprise mind showing the schematics for the voice recognition hardware." He got his last tools from a nearby locker as he asked this request. She complied showing what the Ensign wanted on his holographic tricoder strapped around his arm. After asking for advice around Engineering he was ready to begin upgrading the Mark Two into the Mark Two Version 2. This version would only introduce a more active interface requiring voice commands. This should allow less accidents to occur in theory if the user can access the combat and noncombat programs easily while in the midst of combat. Though the Cai'Nari's ability to interface intrigued him, he already came up with plans for a Mark Three with this new mind interface but he did not have the data he needed from her nor was he sure how to confront Faith about it.
His mind focused on the task at hand.

Mandelo had just finished up in the science lab and was heading over the holo lab to continue her analyse work on the slipstream core. The doors opened in their usual manner and sound and she walking in only a few steps before seeing Figs at work. "Oh! Sorry Ensign. I didn't know this lab was in use" she said surprised and then her face turned to that of intrigue and she walked further in, looking at the hovering suit "whats this?"

He looked up at the sound of the voice to see his boss Lt. Mandelo enter the room. He was not expecting company. "Lieutenant?" He saw the interest in her eyes as her gaze was directed towards the holosuit. "This? This is a holosuit I been experimenting with. I am repairing the damage to it caused by my last test on the holodeck." He said as he returned to his work.

"Test?" She looked over at the bullet holes "that was some test."

"It was one of Doctor Faith's training programs." He stopped to reflect upon the damage "it seemed I underestimated the difficulty." Indeed the numbers of opponents were something and the variety of them really made it difficult to adapt to the situation especially with the old interface. "I am trying to improve the interface with a new voice command feature. Hopefully it will improve my survivability." Though it would be safer if the Ensign would develop that safety protocol for the suit. As of right now the Mark Two is just as dangerous as the Mark One, the very same error that caused the life of one of his best friends.

"If I can make a suggestion" she responded "I think you would be better off going in a holodeck with the safetys on. Your life isn't worth some training program and your not a combat officer."

A smile formed from the Lieutenant's comment. "Thanks for worrying but it is not that simple." He proceeded to get another tool from the looker as he began to explain. "The Safety Protocols of the holodeck do not apply to the user of the Holosuit. When you have the suit on the holodeck computer treats you as any other hologram." That was not the only reason. The redesigned Mark One suits that do contain the safety protocols are not on this prototype of the Mark Two.

"I thought like that once," he stopped as a painful memory returned. He did not move, his sight was on the suit with a soulless gaze. A tear began to form around his eye but was quickly swept away before it ever left the duct, he hoped Jade did not see it as he turned around to grab another tool. Shaking his head he continued. "I can't have anyone else risk their lives for my incompetence."

"What are you talking about? Its a holodeck simulation! No one needs to risk any life!" She frowned.

His mind was no longer listing, it was as if his very thoughts were twisting the Lieutenant's words to conform to the Ensign's feelings. The conversation was a repeat of just before the accident. "For the record the reason I am risking my life for this project is to help save more lives on the field of battle. This suit is to replace combat equipment for both combat and noncombat individuals by replicating ship hull armor upon a person while improving their physical prowess. The suit's safety protocols will not protect anyone from live rounds." Though the suit is currently limited to holodecks the progress to self-dependence was being worked tirelessly at Jupiter Station. He took a second to catch a breath of air. His eyes filled with an odd emotion. A part of his sane mind was still intact. He excused himself from the lab grabbed his suit and proceeded to leave.

OOC: Sorry if my previous post were out of place. If I had to explain it his outburst if you will was caused by years of bottled emotions exploding. A combination of emotions and memories triggered it.
IC:
He left the hololab and went straight for the turbolift leaving the blue form of Enterprise and Jade. "I am sorry Lieutenant for the Ensign's outburst." She looked sad as if she too was affected by the hurt feeling of the Ensign. "What he said was only the official reasons behind the backing of the Holosuit project. His real reasons lye in his AI research. I will not go into detail but we... I mean the Ensign and a close colleague of his developed a theory to allow them to study the human mind as if it were a computer program. The best way was to transform the human body into a hologram per se." She stopped as if reflecting on something. "An accident occured in the early stages of the holosuit development. His colleague and closest friend died. He still blames himself."
The Ensign stopped the Turbolift in mid-transit between decks Seven and Six. He dropped the suit upon the ground and sat down sulking in his knees. The pain would never leave. Everyday he is reminded of her when ever he looks upon the holosuit or his research. Cold tears feel down his cheeks as he began to cry out his emotions.

"I see" she nodded in understanding after looking at the door after the Ensign in confusion "Well that is no reason for him to throw his own life away. Please ensure he build safety protocols for holographic tests into the suit or do it yourself. Thats an order." With that she left and headed to what she was previously doing. She the Ensign would need to have a little talk.
