Valdora found himself on the partially lit and almost destroyed bridge of the Potemkin. He looked around and suddenly a transparent blue humanoid being was heading toward him. From the form Valdora made out an old starfleet uniform. "Captain Horner?" He asked in exasperation. "Yes....you are not Romulan. Do you serve them now like the others we intercepted on our ship?" The being responded. "No we simply have Romulan crew members" Valdora replied "look at this badge" he pushed his com badge forward "recognize it?" "The badge of the Enterprise..." "Yes. And you said it yourself I am not Romulan. Captain do you know what century this is? Do you know how your appear to me now?" "I....no I don't."

Jade looked around as her vision cleared and she was now on the floor of sickbay. Around her medical officers rushed to help those wounded. She stood in confusion. "Why isn't Doctor Nomonor on duty? These people need her...." She then noticed Foley trying to go to work. "Doctor! You are infected. Mabye not as badly due to less tactical contact as the others but you are no condition to take charge of this!" She tried to plead with him.

Foley turned around to regard Jade.
" Lieutenant I have a theory" he said almost nervous about putting foward an idea about something that wasn't medicine.
" What if that ship was sucked through some kind of wormhole or vortex and during the passage through the very essence of the crew members were altered. Leaving lifeless corpses behind, but creating new vessels for the crews conciousness like that being we saw. The raditation we are picking up could be from the wormhole and if I have been touched by one of these beings theres a good chance I could end up like them..........." he trailed off waiting for Jade to reply.

The Ensign made his way to the bridge. He knew of a way to get the Captain out and save the crew of the ship. It's funny really he never thought he would find a perfect example of a dependent hologram like state outside the holodeck or in range of holo-emitters. The energy beings over on the Potemkin are perfect examples of that. The turbolift doors open in time to hear the Marine's plan of forcing their way through to save the Captain. His eyes opened up at this idea of breaking in the hard way will destroy not only the ship but the crew of the Potemkin. He didn't know what to say but he had to say something to advert this disaster in motion. He got one. "I didn't know it was Starfleet Regulations to kill other members of the Federation if they were in distress." There were a fee odd looks coming his way but he continued with his improvised speech. "Sorry to intrude sir but I don't think the Captain would want us to abandon any member of the Federation when they need help." Again looks of confusion the beings of Energy to them seem like monsters but in fact they are not.
"Sir, I been monitoring the data coming in from the Marine team and I have come to a conclusion. The beings that attacked us are nothing more then scared crew members of the USS Potemkin themselves. I can't explain how or why they are in this form but I can tell you what they appear to be. I believe if I read the data correctly their energy bodies are mimicking the state of mid-transport where their bodies are at the state between both matter and energy like state. If I had to explain it in one word, they are basically what holograms are." He had an idea to reverse this state as well but needed a medical expertise on this. He was asked by someone what about the Captain, isn't he in danger? The Ensign simply stated "He's the Captain, I am sure he will end this peacefully." He even knew of a way to actually break through the shields to get a teleporter lock without using force.

Shepard shakes his head and opens the line again "Theres no proof of that ensign, and either way, using small arms to punch through that ships weaken shields is all we have, and won't damage the ship. The shield will drop, a volley might get through, but with small arms the worst that could happen would be some minor hull damage. Working on your idea could still help the captain, but if it comes down to it we will have to use my plan. Those things are immune to everything, we have one shot at destroying them and that is with Tricobalt explosives, which we can't use till the captain is back aboard."

Violence, is that the only solution? Maybe but at the moment all the physical evidence and the encounter with them attacking only proves them to be a violent type. "If it makes you feel any better I can reestablish transporter lock on the captain." He said as he made his way to ops. The current officer on Ops questioned his ability as the shields were still up."Sensor windows, the shields on these old vessels they use a high energy sensor system, which cycles every six minutes with a window of a fiftieth of a second. I can beam him out in that time." He relived the current ops officer and began to implement his plan. "I may be a junior officer but isn't it our mission of peace and not war? Even if they are not Starfleet personnel their show of aggression is normal since we did invade their territory."
After identifying the pattern for the shield he modified the necessary systems to break through the shields for transport. "I have a lock." As he was about to initiate an Emergency Beam out he was interrupted by the communication officer. They were being hailed.

The channel opened and the crew could hear Captain Valdora on the channel. "Hold your fire at all costs Enterprise. These beings are like.....ghost of the Potemkin crew. It appears the last thing they remember is being in battle with the Romulans and being sucked into a wormhole created by gasses in the area mixed with the plasma weapons fire. Something seems to have happened to them on route. It seems that us coming aboard somehow awoke them and they were able to use the little tactile contact they had to put there ship in battle alert just like any crew would do when invaded. But this ship is so damaged I doubt it will hold together after even a minimal of our phaser shots. Keep a transporter lock on me and I will try and learn more. Valdora out."

Jo'rel shook his head and opened a com line to Shepard. "I agree with you that we should just get the Captain out of there and if it comes to that....we will do it." He closed the channel and turned to Ensign Figueroa. "Chief" Durn reported "reports are coming in that many of our away team including Commander Logan and Doctor Foley are showing signs of the same radiation that created those.....ghosts of the Potemkin crew." "Then we have little time. Ensign get with Lieutenant Mandelo and Doctor Foley and any volunteer you can find as test subject from the marines and work on you idea of using the transporters to seperate this new...enity from our crewmen. Then perhaps we can use the same method on the crew of the Potemkin."

Look at the others who were touched longer, they are already in a coma" she cut him off.

With the order he ran as fast as he could to sickbay where he found the Lieutenant. "Lieutenant Mandelo!" He came over to her side and explained as best he could his theory. He was not sure if it would work but their is hope. "I think we may be able to use the transporters as a way to cure whatever this radiation is doing to your bodies." He went on to explain of a similar situation that Enterprise mentioned happened to Doctor Katherine Pulaski on the Enterprise D. The idea was to use an unaltered DNA sample of the infected crew to instruct the transporter bio-filter to remove what does not belong. "I am not sure if it will work but it is worth a shot."

What? Did he miss a meeting or something as every Senior officer some how lost it? He assumed the knowledge of that procedure was standard knowledge in medical teachings. He didn't know about it though if it weren't for Enterprise and her database. It seemed the tables have turned on the Ensign as they relied on his theory instead of the other way around. It was his show in a way and it was beyond him. He regained his composure knowing that their future are in his hands. All he wanted was a conformation that this theory might work but even the Doctor and his boss did not know. "I need you to collect DNA samples of the away team from before they boarded the Potemkin." This was the main item in question in order for this theory to work. He also had to go to one of the Transporter rooms to modify the device for this procedure. "Once you and your team collect the samples meet me in transporter room two with a volunteer." He got up and ran towards the exit. As he did so he activated his combadge to request assistance in modifying the transporters.

Foley nodded.
" Lieutenant Mandelo.............." he trailed off as a large wave of grey washed across his vision. He tried to speak again , but his speech came out slurred and incoherent. A few seconds later the Dr collapsed on the floor unconcious.

Before he could even make it past the open doors of sickbay the crash of the Doctor upon the floor stopped him cold. He turned around to see the medical assistants calling his name as they stood over him. Time was short, too short. It looks like the Doctor volunteered. He pointed directly at one of the nurses and shouted a direct order to her. "You! Go to the Doctor's room and bring me any DNA sample you can find. Hair, blood skin I don't care deliver it to transporter room two now." He ran now down to the turbolift his combadge still linked to Engineering. "I need a team down in transporter room two now!" The lift up was daunting. There was no idea if it was too late to try this method or not but he didn't have a choice. Most if not all the Senior staff including the Captain now are at risk at losing their physical form and from what he could tell their mental capacities were also hindered. He didn't ask for this neither did he want it. All he wanted to do was research the possibility of creating sentient life out of a computer program. Now, now he was on a ship dealing with the unknown saving what could be this ships worst crises.
The turbolift doors opened to Deck Four. He ran out towards transporter room two where he found an engineering crew working with Enterprise to reconfigure the transporters. He assited the crew making the necessary changes to the Heisenberg compensator and the bio filters. All that was needed was the DNA of the Doctor to initiate the test. With that the nurse he pointed to earlier came in out of breath with the data they needed. He thanked the nurse and inputted the necessary final touches to the modifications. "Here goes nothing." almost a breath, a whisper as he locked onto the Doctor's pattern and initiated the transport.
