OOC Note: Has ties to the mission, but is a side-story.
10 Marines walked into the Holodeck, which had taken little damage during the attack. "Enterprise, begin program creation." Gordon said, "Affirmative." "Place 10 holograms of these Covenant in a horizontal line, give them standard issue Covenant weapons. Next, create a background as a large area on one of their ships." "Understood, although data is limited on their ship interiors."
The changes requested were enacted by Enterprise, and soon the Marines found themselves in an unfamiliar environment. "This, Ladies and Gentlemen, is an approximate representation of the ship we will be infiltrating. Regard it well, there's no room for failure on this mission."
He turned to the holograms. "These are representations of Covenant soldiers, based on the data we've obtained. You'll note that their weak areas are here, here and here." He said, indicating a location to the lower left side of their stomach, two locations at the back of their knee joints, two weak points at the sides of their neck, and the back of their head. "If we use explosive rounds on any of these areas, the bullet will penetrate their skin, and explode once inside. The noise will be suppressed, and the effect of such a round will be as follows."
Gordon demonstrates by taking out his M1911 and placing a sound suppressor on it, before walking around to the back of one of the hologram heads and pulling the trigger. "The explosive round, once released, will destroy anything that's inside the area of entry. For example, the brain, the spinal cord, or any other critical functions that these Covenant require to live. Once this has taken place, our friend here is nothing more than a dead corpse. Enterprise, replace hologram." "Yes Lieutenant."
"Now, we're going to have to pack only what we need, from the data we received its possible with a 90% chance that the Covenant are advanced to the point where they will be able to adapt to our modern weaponry. The ACCWs, KEWs, ACRs, etc. Should this prove to be the case, I'm advising all of you in advance to requisition dual kits. One kit will be your standard issue kit. KEW, Romulan weapon, so on. The other kit will be weaponry like this." He holds up his pistol to demonstrate. "If you have any questions about this type of weaponry, ask me." He paused for a moment, looking around the room before continuing.
"Lt. Hikari has informed me that she believes the information the enemy gained on us does not include operationally sensitive information such as this type of weaponry or our armor specs. Going on her word, we should be fine for this operation in that respect. Any questions?"
Gaz stood up and asked one, "So how are we going to get there sir?" "The means of that has yet to be fully determined, but we know that they will be actively scanning for assault shuttles or transporter signatures. But, the Marine armor is capable of use in space, with a few modifications. If these are made, we believe that a straight up space insertion can be made by leaving the Enterprise when its at a point near the flagship, and finding a service shaft leading from the hull of their flagship, into the interior. With any luck, they will not see us coming."
The Lieutenant heard other questions, and answered them before directing the rest of the Marines to begin their training at taking down the holograms, along with using the other weaponry. He was about to join them when he heard a noise behind him, and turned to see the Science officer standing in the doorway to the holodeck program.
